About Colombo Plan


iindonesian.blogspot.com - Colombo Colombo Plan or Plan was formed in 1950 by the Commonwealth countries Inggrsi (British Commonwealth) conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka. His full name is the Colombo Plan for Cooperative economic development in the South and South East Asia (Colombo Plan for economic development cooperation in South Asia and South East Asia).

Colombo Plan initially consisted of only Commonwealth countries, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand as a nation-state donors (donor). Meanwhile, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as countries that receive aid. The headquarters of the Colombo Plan was in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The purpose of the Colombo Plan is to raise the level of socio-economic life of the people in developing countries or countries newly independent South Asia and South East Asia at the time, such as Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines .

Colombo Plan Program
In accordance with the needs of its members, the Colombo Plan aid program is set as follows:

     32% of aid to promote development in agriculture
     34% of the funds to expand the communications and transport sectors.
     10% for developing mining enterprises.
     6% to develop a source of electrical power.
     The remaining 18% for social, educational and vocational skills necessary to achieve a level higher people's lives.

As a member of the participants, Indonesia has quite a lot of assistance from the Colombo Plan, especially in agriculture, transportation, social and educational. Many students and Indonesian officials who had the opportunity to study in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK, in the framework of the program.
